Canyonleigh Caper – Sunday 21st March

Ride Leader – Phil Rylatt Great Ride, cool weather & perfect conditions. Canyonleigh Store again provided terrific food and wonderful coffee. (Not to mention a cool beer for some). I enjoyed a very good iced coffee, strong & cold with no cream – very refreshing. The ride passes some beautiful properties in Bundanoon + has [...]

Avon Dam Re-opens

After 4 long years I was delighted when Phil Costa, NSW Minister for Water, announced Avon Dam has at last reopened to the public. This news is particularly good for those cyclists who love to keep strong with a good hill climb.
Several members of BARBUG gave it a go on Tuesday 8/12/09.  It is a hard but glorious ride which plunges down to the Nepean River before climbing through beautiful rainforest up, up and up to the excellent Avon Dam picnic and viewing facilities.

The return ride amazes even more as the road seems to plunge forever downward towards the Nepean Ford. You can only think to yourself, “Did I really ride all that way up?” Then, the climb back  to the entrance gates,  although it is not as hard as the ride up to Avon, on tired legs, seems to never end!

Bright and sunny in Bargo, cold and rainy in Burradoo. Never mind a short spin on the bike track, then back to the Gumnut Cafe in Bowral for sustenance. The photo shows just  how yummy the cakes are! Easter Braemar Ride

Getting Ready forthe Ride

We had 17 riders for our Braemar loop ride.  Despite forecast rain, it stayed fine and mild, perfect for a strenuous ride. John provided back-up with the van for the most difficult climb up Range Rd. We meandered through the back streets of Mittagong before heading up Range Rd, turning at Old South Rd. Here [...]
