Sunday 16th August, Highlights of Camden

Ride Leader: Phil Rylatt

This was a terrific ride, perfect weather, wonderful scenery and great company! The Brownlow Loop is a  lane winding  through lush fields, past a picket fenced historic farm, complete with an old barn and thatched sheds. The lane is shaded by a very English style hedgerow. You really feel you have been transported to Merry England!

This ride also passes through a very Aussie rural landscape of large horse and cattle grazing properties as well as market gardens. Coffee and cake at Cobbity before heading back to Camden.

Whale Watching, Sunday 28th June

Whale watching ride

Whale watching ride

Phil Ryalett offered to lead an exciting ride to Cape Solander to do a spot of Whale Watching

It was a gorgeous day and we had a fabulous ride. Us country bumkins are not used to city riding. it was great to see so many people using the shared pathways.  Riding along the coast line of Botany Bay was very beautiful.

The whales were moving along the coast to the delight of scores of people watching from Cape Solander, and giving a great thrill to the people on the small boats trying to get up close and personal. A little too close on some occasions!

17th May, Long Point – Review

After a week of strong wind, Sunday 17th May was a perfect autumn day! Bright, sunny and cool.

23 of us met at Ye Olde Bicycle Cafe, Bundanoon at 9.45am and set off toward Penrose soon after 10am for a 65km return ride.
Bundanoon in full autumn display, then Penrose State forest with it’s beautiful silver trunked eucalypts was a glorious start to the ride. We were diverted across the railway, due to road closure, between Penrose and Wingello. The unsealed road was smooth (no trouble for road bikes) and passed some beautiful properties.  From Wingello to Tallong the road was a little more open with views across grazing land. Long Point Rd was great fun on the inward leg with the final 100 metres to the lookout being a steep track suitable for the mountain bikers, the rest of us walked. Long Point lookout provided an inspiring view of the meandering Shoalhaven river cut deep into a gorge.

What goes down must come up, the return leg on Long Pt Rd was a little more challenging!
We stopped for a wonderful lunch at Wingello Village Store. It has a small dining area and a lovely little lounge room with an open fire.  We were made to feel very welcome (despite rearranging all their furniture) and the food and coffee were excellent, especially he scrumptious little home-made marmalade tarts! They are even planning to install some bike racks! A great way to encourage cyclists. For more info contact David Bruggeman Ph: 02 4884 4340

It was a very successful ride in a beautiful area and I think most riders had a great day.

Mothers Day Ride

Bright and sunny in Bargo, cold and rainy in Burradoo. Never mind a short spin on the bike track, then back to the Gumnut Cafe in Bowral for sustenance. The photo shows just  how yummy the cakes are!

New! – Rear Indicator Lights –

Check Out This Terrific New Product

Update!

Due to large interest in this product, we have spoken to our supplier and managed to arrange special pricing of $99 inc Gst, plus postage. This represents a substantial saving off the RRP of $150plus gst.

I believe these rear indicator lights have long been needed by social and commuting cyclists.  It is often difficult to raise your arm to indicate direction, particularly on a downhill turn or on a pot-holed or poor road surface.  Also, riders are often better balanced on one side or the other. The control panel on this system solves these problems and allows cyclists to indicate direction earlier and for longer.

Price:

  • Single Order: $150 + GST and Postage
  • 5 or more: $115 + GST and Postage

Why not purchase at the discounted rate through BARBUG? I am happy to order on your behalf.

A small price to pay for increased safety!

A lot of bicycle accidents are vehicles colliding with a bicycle. When asked drivers were unsure of cyclists intentions or not enough indication was given prior to executing a turn.

We believe that this product will help ease some of the frustration between motorists and cyclists. This product may also help develop road rules and courtesy to other road users. It is intended to be used in conjunction with a head check prior to executing a turn.
